Explanation

This blog was created as a temporary means of allowing Dr. Parkinson (and others if they would like) to listen to the melodies created for my ME 575 Genetic Algorithm project. The recordings were made with the video option of a digital camera, so their quality is not the best. The first video includes an arrangement of the best design. The other videos each include all of the designs from a particular generation. Each melody lasts about 12 seconds and is followed by a long pause. The objective values of each design are given in tables below the videos, so it's easy to follow along and see if you agree with the scores.

Final Composition

This recording is an arrangement of design 6 of generation 25, which was the only design which received 10's in both objectives. Emily added a left-hand line, showing that even thought these tunes are very simple, they can form the basic melodies of more complex, more pleasing arrangements.
